- What do you think Calvin means when he says, "Isn’t this wonderful? I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"
- Why does Mrs. Who use so many quotes instead of using her own words? What can you infer about a person who speaks in quotes? Try to think of a pro and a con.
- What did Mrs. Whatsit show them when they reached the summit of the mountain? How did it make each kid feel? How do you think it would make you feel?
3. Mrs. Whatsit showed them the top of the mountain and then there was a shadow cloud. Meg felt sad because Mrs. Whatsit told Meg that her father was in the shadow cloud fighting it, and it made Meg start to cry
ReplyDeleteOn the summit of the mountain Mrs. Whatsit shows them a cloud. Have you ever had that feeling when something saad or emotional happened a long time ago and nobody ever brings it up? I think that is how Meg feels. I think this because her dad isn't around and it kind of makes me sad. If I were Meg I would feel kind of mad and sad at the same time. I would feel this way because if my dad wasn't around I would feel kind of sad.
ReplyDelete1. I think Calvin meant by what he said because he probably met someone like a friend and he isn't always lonely like he usually is and he aslo met a friend that he can trust and someone that he can depend on when he has ups and down like really bad or good days when he needs a friend.
ReplyDelete2. I think Mrs.Whatsit talks in quotes because she is not really in the story.I also think she talks in quote because sje is maybe not saying things, but people is talking about what she says.
ReplyDelete1.I agree with Tasmiyah because Calvin was probably talking to about a friend because he feels like he is the only child orsomething. I think he feels lonely because his sister is way older than him and he can't really play or talk to her. Meg is always in school, or talking, or even out with her frieends and Calvin doesn't have anyone to talk, or play with.
I have another question, how do you think Calvin felt about being alone with no one there to talk or play with.
I think Calvin felt rather lonely because he was always by himself. Sometimes it's good to be by yourself and you would rather be by yourself, but not all the time. I think Calvin's feels like, if even sometimes, he had someone to talk or play with and not be alone all of the time.
Delete1. I think Calvin says " Isnt this wonderful" because he felt diffrent. He thought that nobody understood him. Charles was diffrent too. Maybe he felt some connection. To respond to Ciera, the book did say he was lonely. He was a bully, he had no true friends.
DeleteI think he fills as if he is in a prison alone. He feels like he has be used.
Delete2. When Mrs.Whatsit talks in quotes I think that she really doesn't mean everything that she is saying or doesn't want to come out and say what she exactly means to say. i can infer about people that talk in quotes that they are more skeptical about what they say. A pro would be that she doesn't have to think about what she says exactly. A con would be that she is much harder to understand and her dialogue is limited to quotes.
ReplyDelete1.Calvin is best at fitting in the popular crowd. Other people like him this way but that isn't him. With Meg he can act how he wants to.
ReplyDelete2.Mrs. Who isn't used to speaking in a normal way. Quotes best describe her thoughts.A person who normally speaks in quotes can not find the best words to use to express things.
3.Mrs.Whatsit showed the the black thing. It is pure evil. All the children were afraid of the terrifying darkness. I on the other hand would have no emotion to express and would be shivering.
I think calvin felt that he was popular and he had people around him.The part about feeling re-born is that he is a new calvin the that is popular now.
ReplyDelete3.)Mrs.Whatsit had showed them the shadow cloud. It made them feel very sad because she had said something about Megs' father and she had started to cry.I think that knowing that my dead dad is fighting some type of shadow cloud would make me feeel really sad and want cry.
ReplyDelete3) I agree with Sharp 100%. Mrs. Whatsit did show them the shadow cloud and it made the kids sad because she obviously had somthing to do with Meg's father. If this could actually happen I would want to cry and figure out why Mrs. Whatsit would do this to our family and lets others ask us unconfortable questions about our father. I would be mad and sad at the time becuase Mrs. Whatsit might have actually did somthing to Meg's father .

ReplyDeleteOne thing that i think Calvin means when he says that is that he isn't alone anymore and he has a friend. I also think that he means the he has met someone that he can relate to and have fun with. I think that he may be happy about this because he was alone and now he has a friend.
ReplyDelete1. I think Calvin meant that he was lonely. Also, he feels like he is a baby with no friends yet. But then he meets someone.
ReplyDeleteDo you think this quote is one that an actual person would say?
Why or why not?
