Great job last week!  I'm so proud of your efforts.
Please answer at least 1 question.  Use complete sentences, and PROOFREAD!  Posts with more than 2 errors will not be posted.  At some point, come back and re-read the comments.  Respond to your classmates, ask a question, make a connection, etc.

  1. What do you think Calvin means when he says, "Isn’t this wonderful?   I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"
  2. Why does Mrs. Who use so many quotes instead of using her own words? What can you infer about a person who speaks in quotes? Try to think of a pro and a con.
  3. What did Mrs. Whatsit show them when they reached the summit of the mountain? How did it make each kid feel?  How do you think it would make you feel?

  1. 1. What do you think Calvin means when he says, "Isn’t this wonderful? I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"

I think that this means that he has never felt this way at any time of his life. Calvin was probably lonely and didn't have a family like Meg's. He has company now and can trust them. Calvin probably feels that he is starting a new life with a new family and friends.

  2. Calvin means when he says I’m not alone anymore is that he has people who cares and wants to be around him. Also Calvin means when he says he just been born is that he feels the love that Meg’s family is giving him.

  3. 1. What do you think Calvin means when he says, "Isn’t this wonderful? I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"

What Calvin means is that he actually has met someone who understands him for who he really is. With Meg, he feels not just a good basketball player, a person who does well in school or a person that people like, but a regular person. Calvin loves and cares for his family, but he feels as if they don’t care for him. This makes him feels like he has no one to talk to. This is why he always calls when he isn’t going to be home until late. As he said before, “I’m not alone anymore!”
How do you think it feels to be misunderstood like Calvin? Put yourself in Calvin’s shoes.

  4. 1) What do you think Calvin means when he says, "Isn’t this wonderful? I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"

Calvin said this because he can relate to meg`s life style because at school he is a different person but when he is with meg he can be his normal self.

    1. Adding on to what Aryell said, Calvin felt that he has friends and others who care about him and who like to be around him. He has company now and his life will never be like it was before that.

  6. 1. What do you think Calvin means when he says, "Isn’t this wonderful? I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"

When Calvin said this, I believe he was referring to Charles Wallace. Calvin has this "supernatural" power to sense things and to sort of read peoples minds. He felt as if he was the only one able to do that, he felt as no one understood him. When he met Meg and Charles Wallace, that changed. Although Meg doesn't necessarily have that supernatural power, she has something like that and she is very smart and has a high IQ. That is what Calvin meant when he said "Isn’t this wonderful? I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"

  7. 3.)What did Mrs. Whatsit show them when they reached the summit of the mountain? How did it make each kid feel? How do you think it would make you feel?

When they climbed to the summit of the mountain, Mrs. Whatsit showed them a view of the universe that isn’t observable from Earth. Calvin, Meg, and Charles Wallace were all blown away by the view because they have never seen it before. I would have also been blown away because I couldn’t see that on Earth and I never saw an amazing view like that in my life.

  8. 1. What do you think Calvin means when he says, "Isn’t this wonderful? I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"

I agree with Louis because he is right i think that he is being very sarcatic and say oh thats wonderful. He is really trying to say that this ois the worst he is saying the opposite of oh this is wonderful. He is saying that he just foud out what out what happened like he feels that he was just born because he does not knowe what was going on. He is saying that he is not alone which is reffering to the other statement i feel as though i was just being born.

  9. 1.What do you think Calvin means when he says, "Isn’t this wonderful? I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"

I think he meant that no one else has differences like him except Meg and Charles Wallace. He also mentioned that he wasn't loved in his home like Meg was. Then Meg started to talk about the material things like everyone likes him and he's good at basketball.

  10. 3.) What did Mrs. Whatsit show them when they reached the summit of the mountain? How did it make each kid feel? How do you think it would make you feel?
Mrs.Whatsit showed them the whole universe. So that means that there was no possible way of being on Earth. It made each kid feel a part of something more. If I were in their possession I would be so blown away and so astonished.

  11. 2. I think Mrs.Who does use quotes is because she seems the oldest. She talks weird because in her time she heard a lot of quotes. Since she seems the oldest it seems she does not know modern language, but only knows quotes. Since she speaks in different languages, she has been all around the world.

    1. She probably just is saying she doesn't agree with that topic.

  12. 2. She probably does this so that she can say I don't agree with this statement or she doesn't know modern language like Rasheed said.

  15. Why does Mrs. Who use so many quotes instead of using her own words? What can you infer about a person who speaks in quotes? Try to think of a pro and a con.

She speaks in quotes because normally she speaks with thougts and reads minds like Calvin and Charles Wallace do. Now that she is actually speaking with words, she is having trouble coming up with her own phrases, so she just quotes them. For her, quoting is a lot easier because she doesn't actually have to put the words together herself. A pro of speaking in quotes is that you dont have to worry about coming up with words that will fit the message you are conveying, you can just get them from someone else. A con is that your speech is limited to the quotes.

If Mrs. Who isn't human and can't speak very will, how does she know all of these quotes?

  16. 1)What do you think Calvin means when he says, "Isn’t this wonderful? I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"

Calvin means that he has actually someone to talk to and there isn't anyone who doesn't understand him. He also says that because he has Meg and Charles Wallace who understands his point of view.

  17. 1). What do you think Calvin means when he says, "Isn’t this wonderful? I feel as though I were just being born. I’m not alone anymore!"

I think he said that because when he was little there was not many attention like Meg and Charles Wallace. He also might said that because he dose not fell alone any more. Or he might also said it because there is more attention then there was before

  18. 1. What is the black thing? How is it connected to Meg's father?

The black thing is darkness itself. Its evils power in which controls us. The evil power trapped them in and awakens Meg. She couldn’t see Charles Wallace or Calvin, but she heard them. That force is the tesseract. The tesseract has her father trapped and they are trying to find him in that force.

When Meg woke up from her bad dream, how did that force feel?
